SR1 Scientific Research receives 2024 Engage Every Student Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RIDGELAND,Miss-At the 2024 Engage Every Student Summit held in Washington, D.C., SR1 Scientific Research of Ridgeland, Mississippi, was honored with a prestigious award recognizing its outstanding contributions to afterschool and summer learning programs.

Dr. Miguel Cardona, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education, presented SR1 as one of 13 exemplary organizations nationwide for its exceptional efforts to enhance students' access to quality educational opportunities.

Founded by CEO Tamu Green in 2005, SR1 Scientific Research was created to eliminate disparities in health, education, and technology through innovative STEM initiatives. In partnership with Forest Municipal School District, SR1 leveraged $450,000 in ARP ESSER funding to triple its program capacity for K-12 students. The organization’s impactful programs, including the Agriculture and Food Science Department’s farm-to-table practices, an award-winning robotics program, and the C.O.O.L Zone and C.O.O.L Kids programs, have transformed learning experiences for students across Jackson, Ridgeland, Canton, and Madison County. SR1 provides students with the opportunity to develop skills in science, technology, engineering, math, literacy, lifestyle, and outdoor recreational activities. Over the years, local and regional educational agencies, colleges, and universities have partnered with SR1 to support student success.

SR1’s recognition at the Engage Every Student Summit underscores its commitment to creating enriching educational environments and fostering student success. This accolade not only highlights SR1’s dedication but also sets a benchmark for excellence in extending access to quality educational resources.
