C.O.O.L.™ Community Volunteers
SR1 (Scientific Research) is a small innovative organization that considers itself to be the premier 501(c)(3) in Mississippi, dedicated to reducing disparities. Our goal is to become the leading organization in reducing disparities nationally. We welcome highly motivated volunteers that pride themselves in rising above the norm of averageness through excellence, passion, consistency, and innovative thinking. Whether you are interested in tutoring/mentoring students in core subjects, ACT/SAT prep, robotics, and social skills or assisting with organizational support services, there is a place for you.
We are dedicated to ensuring the safety of our students, so all volunteers must submit to background checks.
Six Reasons to Volunteer with SR1
1. To Help Others
It is great to do important work while making a difference in the lives of others.
2. To Be Involved In The Community
When you are involved in the community you help strengthen the community.
3. Contribute to a Great Cause
Contribute to a cause of educating our youth and help to strengthen their global awareness skills. Help us on a project and solve problems.
4. To Develop New Skills and Have New Experiences
Volunteering can be a great break from everyday tasks and an opportunity to take on new challenges.
5. To Use Skills In a Productive Way
You may have a skill that you can apply for public good. A lawyer, musician, artist, computer programmer, construction worker—the list is endless of how your skills can be used for common good.
6. To Stay Fit
New research has shown that volunteers tend to be healthier and live longer than non-volunteers. Volunteering really does help you to stay mentally and physically fit.
Volunteering may be one of the most important things that you may ever do—in your life and the lives of others.
